Call summary

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council invites applications for its new investigator scheme. This assists early-career researchers in securing their first major element of research funding.

Scientific scope

Applications should be made to the following committees according to the research topic: •research committee A evaluates proposals related to animal disease, health and welfare; •research committee B evaluates proposals related to plants, microbes, food and sustainability; •research committee C evaluates proposals related to genes, development, and STEM approaches to biology; •research committee D evaluates proposals related to molecules, cells and industrial biotechnology.

PI eligibility

Applicants will need to have held a lecturer, or equivalent-level, position for no more than three and a half years at the time of the closing date for submission to the grant round in which the application will be assessed. They must not have received competitive research funding as a PI from any source that included postdoctoral research assistant staff support costs.
