Call summary

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council invites applications for its support the development of research software engineering call. This supports the development and growth of the UK RSE community to meet the future demand for high performance computing (HPC) and exascale skills as the exascale era approaches. The total budget is £670,000. One award, worth up to £500,000, is available for the core knowledge integration programme, and up to four awards, with a combined total budget of £170,000, are available to develop training and skills activities for RSE knowledge integration. Funding may cover researcher time, staff time and consumables. The maximum duration of any award is three years. Funding covers up to 80 per cent of the full economic cost.

Scientific scope

There are two funding streams to apply for: •core knowledge integration programme – one award available; •develop training and skills activities for RSE knowledge integration – multiple smaller awards available.

PI eligibility

UK-based researchers or research software engineers at HEIs, research institutes, UKRI-approved independent research organisations and public sector research establishments may apply.
