PI eligibility
Applicants must be academic employees at lecturer or equivalent level based at an eligible institution in the UK. Those with fixed term appointments may apply if their contract extends beyond the end date of the proposed research and the host research organisation provides the applicant with the support they would normally offer a permanent employee. Current holders of postdoctoral level fellowships are not eligible to hold EPSRC research grants. Applicants who are employed in a staff post on a research grant are eligible if they hold an early-career fellowship and their university gives them the same stature as a permanent academic member of staff. Applications to this scheme must be the applicant’s first to EPSRC as a principal investigator. Applicants may only apply once, whether successful or not. Those who have previously received over £20,000 funding for equipment or research grants worth over £100,000 will have their application assessed on a case by case basis.
