Call summary
The Medical Research Council (MRC), through the MRC-AstraZeneca Centre for Lead Discovery, invites applications for its develop new approaches to small molecule medicine grants. This supports academic researchers in discovering starting points for small molecule medicinal drugs. The total budget is £1 million. Five grants are available. The full economic cost of the project may be £250,000 and the MRC will fund up to 80 per cent of the full economic cost.

PI eligibility
Applicants working at a UK HEIs, UKRI units or institutes, eligible independent research organisations or eligible public sector research establishments may apply. Research proposals that are led by commercial entities are not eligible. Applications may not include collaborations with additional commercial parties. Research will be conducted at the AstraZeneca’s compound library and at the high-throughput screening facilities.
