Call summary
Diamond Light Source invites proposals for beam time – standard, block allocation group and long term access. This provides beam time for individuals and groups conducting research. Funding is available for travel and subsistence costs. Access will be free at the point of use for all non-proprietary research.
Scientific scope
Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics; Magnetism & Electromagnetism; Crystallography; Spectrometry; Microscopy; Radiology & Medical Imaging; Materials Sciences; Environmental Technology; Structural Chemistry & Spectroscopy; Infrared & Ultraviolet Light; Nanotechnology. Three access routes are available:
•standard access – for a single experiment to be carried out over during one or two sessions in the same allocation period;
•block allocation group access – provides access for a group of users spanning a two year period and is the normal access route for MX and eBIC;
•long term access – for a series of experiments taking place over two years, particularly for when a series of experiments on different instruments is required to answer a scientific problem.
PI eligibility
PIs must be research fellows or academic staff with an ORCID iD. Scientists and engineers from academia, research councils, charitable institutions and commercial organisations, both UK and international, may apply, however, users outside of the UK and EU are not eligible for financial support.
