Sony, under its research award programme, invites applications for its focused research award. The grant is worth up to USD 150,000 for up to one year.
Scientific scope
This supports collaborative research in the following focus areas:
•next generation artificial intelligence;
•efficient distributed deep learning beyond data-parallelism and model-parallelism;
•novel actuator;
•liquid crystal alignment technology for high-definition pixels;
•novel technologies for NIR-MIR VCSELs;
•development of AI-based or evolutionary algorithms for computational discovery of novel materials;
•spatial-omics technologies;
•intelligent sensing of patient-reported outcomes;
•advanced image processing enabled by AI;
•machine learning-based digital human creation.
PI eligibility
Applicants must be full professors, associate professors, assistant professors or researchers that are qualified to supervise PhD students and based at a university in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Finland, India, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK or the US.
