Call summary
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council invites applications for its adventurous energy research for a sustainable net zero call. This supports high-risk decarbonisation research to develop or model materials, devices, fuels and technologies. Solutions must be sustainable beyond 2050 and compatible with a circular economy. The total budget is £2 million. Grants are worth up to £250,000 each and may last for 24 months.
Scientific scope
The scope of this call is limited to engineering and physical sciences-based solutions for:
▪decarbonising transport;
▪heating and cooling;
▪industry;
▪agriculture;
▪electricity generation.
Mathematical, digital, artificial intelligence and software-based solutions are not eligible.
PI eligibility
UK-based researchers at HEIs, research council institutes, UKRI-approved independent research organisations, public sector research establishments and NHS bodies with research capacity may apply. Postdoctoral fellowship holders are not eligible to apply.
