Call summary

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council invites applications for its digital economy NetworkPlus call. This enables the creation of digital economy and manufacturing research communities. The total budget is worth up to £13 million to support five networks for 48 to 60 months. Grants are worth up to £2.6 million each and cover 80 per cent of the full economic cost.

Scientific scope

Each funded NetworkPlus must address one of the digital economy theme five priority areas which reflect the theme’s long-term strategic goals: ▪beyond a data driven economy; ▪content creation and consumption; ▪equitable digital society; ▪sustainable digital society; ▪trust, identity, privacy and security. Network activities should be UK-wide and should involve a broad range of disciplines and non-academic stakeholders from relevant sectors such as manufacturing, creative industries and financial services.

PI eligibility

The principal investigator must be resident in the UK and an academic employee at the lecturer or equivalent level at an eligible organisation, which may be a higher education institution, research council institute, independent research organisation, public sector research establishment or NHS body with a research capacity.
