Call summary
Wellcome invites applications for its innovator awards. These support researchers who are transforming ideas into healthcare innovations that could have a significant impact on human health. Awards are worth up to £500,000 for up to two years, or up to £750,000 for up to three years for multidisciplinary collaborations. Funding may cover staff costs, materials and consumables, animals, access charges, research management and support costs, travel and subsistence, and other costs.
Scientific scope
Research may be in any scientific discipline, including those outside the life sciences, and can be on any type of technology, including:
•therapeutics;
•vaccines;
•devices;
•diagnostics;
•digital technologies;
•regenerative medicine.
PI eligibility
Individuals and teams from not-for-profit organisations based anywhere in the world, except mainland China, may apply. Proposals from multidisciplinary collaborations within or between organisations are particularly encouraged, and do not need to include life science researchers. Collaborations must include researchers from at least two different scientific disciplines, at least one researcher from a discipline outside the life sciences, and describe the added value of the collaboration.
