Call summary

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, as part of UK Research and Innovation, invites applications for its collaborative training partnerships call. This enables the establishment of business-led doctoral training partnerships that build capacity and address strategic skills challenges in the UK bioeconomy at doctoral level. The total budget is £22.5 million, to fund up to 10 partnerships. Funding will support up to 75 four-year studentships per year, for three consecutive intakes, the first being in 2021-2022 and the final cohort commencing in 2023-2024. Funding covers the doctoral candidates’ tuition fees, stipend and research and training support in line with UKRI policy.

PI eligibility

Partnerships must be led by industry and have a UK research or manufacturing base. The lead applicant should not be eligible for UKRI-BBSRC grant funding. CTPs may be led by a single company, but where relevant multi-partner bids involving two or more companies are encouraged.
