Call summary

The Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council invite applications for their enterprise fellowships. These enable science and technology researchers based in the UK to develop a new business, building on previously funded BBSRC research, and become successful entrepreneurs. Fellows are supported and equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in the global business environment. The fellowships have a focus on life science, health, food, biotechnology and biological sciences. Fellowships include up to £100,000 in funding and business training support over one year. Fellows also receive mentoring from affiliated mentors and partners in the business community as well as access to professional networking events.

PI eligibility

Fellowships are open to graduates, postgraduates, PhD students, academic researchers and members of staff of any nationality in eligible UK research organisations. Applicants must have received previous BBSRC funding. Fellowships can be hosted by a UK HEI or research institute. Applicants must demonstrate commercial and technical proof of concept, and be able to remain and work legally in the UK for the duration of the fellowship. Previous commercial and technical proof-of-concept, including BBSRC follow-on funding is highly recommended. Previous fellows and companies may not apply.
