Call summary

The aim of this competition is to support UK-Swiss international business-led innovation collaboration. Through grant funding Innovate UK will support UK businesses to collaborate with Swiss counterparts for their mutual global growth prospects. The project proposal must have an obvious advantage and added value resulting from the cooperation between the participants from the two jurisdictions and has to contribute to the development of commercial products, processes, or technical services. These advantages can include: - Increased innovation capability - Commercial leads - Access to R&D infrastructure - New fields of application. Amount note Innovate UK is working with Innosuisse to invest up to £4 million and CHF 3 million respectively into innovation projects. Your project must have a maximum grant funding request of £450,000 to Innovate UK. The maximum funding request (per project) to Innosuisse must not exceed CHF 450,000. Projects must last between 18 months and 36 months.

Scientific scope

This is an open scope competition and proposals can come from any technology area. We particularly encourage applications in, but not limited to, the following technologies: Life Sciences Artificial Intelligence (AI) Semiconductor applications Quantum.

PI eligibility

Eligibility Note Participants from Switzerland and the United Kingdom are invited to submit joint project proposals. The project consortium must include at least one business entity from each country (UK, Switzerland) and one research institute from either the UK or Switzerland. If the Swiss applicant is an individual start-up (pre-market and <50 FTE), the research institute requirement is waived. Participation of other research organisations and other commercial companies from both countries is welcome in accordance with the funding regulations of each country. UK project partners must meet the following requirements including: Start by 1 November 2024 End by 31 October 2027 Carry out the majority of its project work in the UK Intend to exploit the results from or in the UK UK project partners must carry out the majority of their project work in the UK and intend to exploit the results from or in the UK.
