Call summary
Wellcome and the Indian Department of Biotechnology, through the India Alliance, invite applications for their senior fellowships. These support researchers of any nationality, either medically qualified or science graduates, who wish to pursue a research career in an academic institution in India and conduct biomedical research that is relevant to human and animal welfare. The fellowship is tenable for five years and provides the fellow’s personal support and research expenses, including research assistance.

PI eligibility
Applicants should have between seven and 15 years of post-PhD research experience. They must have demonstrated their ability to lead an independent research programme and want to expand it further to undertake pioneering research. They should also have a substantial record of publications and have made significant intellectual contributions in their chosen field of research.
