Call summary
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the University of Southampton, through the Optoelectronics Research Centre, invites proposals for their airguide photonics collaboration fund call for research proposals. This supports short research projects that directly or indirectly contribute to the key areas of the airguide programme and that add to the overall aims of the project. The total budget is £150,000. Projects may request funding of up to £50,000, or up to £100,000 in exceptional cases, and are funded at 80 per cent of full economic costs. The remaining 20 per cent must be contributed by the academic institute submitting the proposal. Grants support directly incurred costs, such as research staff time, consumables and travel to project partners.
Scientific scope
Proposals on the following topics are particularly encouraged:
•hollow core fibre development;
•hollow core fibre reliability and interconnection;
•amplifiers, lasers and components for hollow core fibres;
•data transmission in hollow core fibres;
•laser deliver applications of hollow core fibres;
•hollow core fibre for sensing and metrology.
PI eligibility
Any UK-based academic research group or individual may apply.
