Call summary
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs invites applications for their global coronavirus research and innovation network call. This supports the establishment of a single international network for research into coronaviruses. One single network will be funded with £500,000 over four years.
Scientific scope
The research should be in the following areas:
•pathogen biology – including the seasonality, transmission, ecology and evolution of coronaviruses;
•host response;
•effective intervention strategies.
PI eligibility
Consortia of academics based internationally may apply. One UK PI must act as the network director. The PI must be of at least lecturer level or equivalent, be based at a UK research institution and meet the standard UKRI-BBSRC eligibility criteria. Institutions and researchers eligible under this call include HEIs, strategically funded institutes, eligible independent research organisations and public sector research establishments. The PI may be assisted by one co-director. The network is particularly encouraged to include partners from China, North America, Europe, South East Asia and Africa.
