Call summary

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council invites applications for its responsive mode research grants. These support curiosity-led research to advance the bioscience portfolio of the council

Scientific scope

Applications are particularly sought under the following priority areas: 1) animal health; 2) bioenergy – generating new replacement fuels for a greener, sustainable future; 3) combating antimicrobial resistance; 4) data driven biology; 5) food, nutrition and health; 6) healthy ageing across the life course; 7) integrative microbiome research; 8) new strategic approaches to industrial biotechnology; 9) reducing waste in the food chain; 10) the replacement, refinement and reduction in research using animals; 11) sustainably enhancing agricultural production; 12) synthetic biology; 13) systems approaches to the biosciences; 14) technology development for the biosciences; 15) welfare of managed animals.
