Call summary

The Academy of Medical Sciences, in partnership with the Royal Society and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, invites applications for the Newton advanced fellowships – China. These provide established researchers based in China with an opportunity to develop the research strengths and capabilities of their research group through training, collaboration and reciprocal visits with a UK partner. Fellowships are worth up to £37,000 per year for up to three years and provide a salary top up, research support, travel and subsistence and training to support career development.

Scientific scope

Fellowships support researchers working on a subject within the natural sciences, including biological research, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics, clinical or patient-oriented research.

PI eligibility

The China-based researcher must have completed a PhD or equivalent research experience and must hold a permanent or fixed-term contract in a university, academic research organisation, publicly funded or non-profit research institution that spans the duration of the project. They must have no more than 18 years of postdoctoral research experience. Female researchers are strongly encouraged to apply.
