Call summary
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council invites applications for its discipline hopping in information and communications technologies scheme. This enables ICT researchers to spend time in new and different research disciplines or user environments providing the researcher with new skills and allowing them to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to their work. Each award principally covers 80 per cent of the cost of the PI’s salary as well as travel, subsistence, some technical effort and the costs of an academic in the host location. Projects should last between three and 24 months.

PI eligibility
Applicants may have a background in ICT and propose to use their ICT skills in a new discipline. Alternatively, applicants may have other expertise and learn ICT skills to apply them to their own discipline. The principal investigator must be resident in the UK and an academic employee at the lecturer or equivalent level at an eligible organisation, which may be a HEI, a research institute funded by a research council or an independent research organisation. Industrial partners must be UK based.
