Call summary

The total budget is worth £7 million. Projects may range between £250,000 and £4m in size for at least one year. Small businesses may receive up to 70 per cent funding of their total project costs and medium-sized businesses may receive up to 60 per cent for feasibility studies or industrial research. Feasibility studies are eligible for early stage projects only.

Scientific scope

Support is available for any life science sector or discipline, including: •medical technologies and devices; •stratified healthcare; •advanced therapies such as gene and cell therapies; •digital health; •drug discovery; •diagnostics.

PI eligibility

Projects must led by a UK-based micro, small or medium-sized enterprise or a research and technology organisation. The lead applicant must be an organisation focused on life science and carry out the project in the UK. They may work alone or in partnership with others such as SMEs, academics or research organisations. If the project is academic-led, applicants need to apply to the Medical Research Council instead. Collaborators may be a UK-based business, academic organisation, charity, public sector organisation or research and technology organisation.
