Call summary

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council invites applications for its future electrical machines hub’s first call for feasibility studies. This supports feasibility studies that complement existing future electrical machines hub research, fill gaps or add cross-cutting activities. Grants are worth up to £50,000 each for six to twelve months. Up to three grants are available.

Scientific scope

The call has the following themes: •manufacturing-led innovation in electrical machines – concerned with realising the dividends that come from much closer integration between innovations in electrical machine design and advanced manufacturing methods; •process innovation, monitoring and simulation – focused on the numerous processes that underpin electrical machine manufacture with the research drawing heavily on modelling and simulation to explore the influence of current and emerging processes on final machine performance.

PI eligibility

UK academics eligible to receive EPSRC funding and whose institutions are not currently involved with the FEMM Hub may apply.
