Call summary

Innovate UK, through the Advanced Propulsion Centre, invites registrations for its call on advanced route to market demonstrator. This supports collaborative, business led late stage R&D projects that will demonstrate advanced propulsion technologies with the output of these projects in the form of a physical demonstrator. The focus of this competition is to develop and realise the demonstration of capability that could lead to further business exploitation, utilising future low carbon powertrain technology as a key element in the UK’s transition to zero activities. The total budget is worth £10 million. Funding is worth between £325,000 and £650,000 at 65 per cent full economic costs. Project consortia must contribute the remaining 35% of the costs of the project as industry match.

Scientific scope

The development and realisation of the demonstrator needs to focus on future vehicle powertrain technology themes, that include: •lightweight vehicle body, chassis and powertrain structures; •electric machines and power electronics; •energy storage and energy management systems; •alternative propulsion systems; •other disruptive low carbon vehicle technology.

PI eligibility

Lead applicants must be a UK registered business and must carry out the project work in the UK and intend to exploit the results from or in the UK. They can collaborate with other UK businesses, academic institutions, charities, public sector organisations or research and technology organisations. UK businesses must be eligible to receive state aid.
