Call summary
The Natural Environment Research Council, on behalf of UK Research and Innovation, invites proposals for its pushing the frontiers of understanding pilot. This supports proposals that will push the frontiers of knowledge and lead to ground-breaking, innovative scientific discoveries in the environmental sciences. The total budget is £10 million, to support up to five awards for up to four years. Grants are worth up to £2m each.

PI eligibility
Researchers in the environmental sciences may apply. They are expected to demonstrate a capability to collaborate with experts from other disciplines to generate innovative research. Such disciplines may be, but are not limited to, physical, biological, social, and medical sciences, and engineering, law, business and economics. Organisations can submit up to two proposals, one of which must be for an early-career researcher.
