Call summary

The Alan Turing Institute, with support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council through the Strategic Priorities Fund, invites proposals for its call for AI for climate action pilot projects. These enable multidisciplinary teams of researchers working in partnership to apply data science approaches to environmental and sustainability challenges. Up to two grants, worth up to £50,000 each over up to six months, are available. Funding may cover up to 20 per cent of investigator time, other directly incurred staff salaries, research consumables and equipment, and travel and subsistence.

Scientific scope

The call has three key focus areas: •the science of climate change; •reducing carbon emissions; •climate change impacts and resilience.

PI eligibility

Interdisciplinary teams of environmental and data scientists involving collaboration between at least two institutions, either from the Turing university network or from the Turing university network and external research organisations and environmental agencies, may apply. All proposals must be led by two investigators. The lead applicant must be a Turing fellow, Turing visiting research fellow or situated at one of the Turing’s university partners. Co-applicants must be based at an HEI or independent research organisation.
