Call summary
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council invites proposals for its National Nuclear User Facility phase 2a call. The total budget is up to £23 million, of which £18.8m is for capital provision and £4.2m is for associated resource costs. Applications must be for equipment in excess of £400,000.
Scientific scope
This provides academics with equipment and facilities to carry out underpinning science and engineering research in nuclear fission. The aim is to train the next generation of nuclear scientists in core skills for the use of modern equipment. Funding is available for providing, refreshing and updating underpinning multi-user equipment with a primary focus on nuclear energy research on active samples across the UK.
PI eligibility
UK HEIs that receive grant funding from one of the UK higher education funding bodies, eligible research institutes and independent research organisations may apply. PIs must be academic employees, at lecturer level or equivalent, at an eligible organisation and must be resident in the UK. There is no limit to the number of applications that may be made by each institution.
