Call summary

The UK Manufacturing Symbiosis NetworkPlus, supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, invites applications for its call for sectoral-specific studies. This supports short-term exploratory studies that conduct horizon scanning research targeted to specific manufacturing sectors of the UK economy. The studies should generate relevant knowledge that identify business, digital technology or materials science challenges hindering the implementation of industrial collaboration practices by manufacturing firms and identify manufacturing synergies opportunities, gaps and potential solutions for the identified challenges in the light of circular economy practices. The total budget is £80,000 for grants worth up to £20,000 each for up to eight months. Funding is provided at 80 per cent full economic cost and covers academic salary costs.

PI eligibility

Academic research teams led by UK universities may apply. Projects can involve more than one institution or organisation, including businesses. Applicants must be eligible to receive EPSRC funding.
