Call summary
The total budget is worth up to £20 million to support four to eight programmes at 80 per cent full economic cost, with the exception of equipment, funded at 50 per cent fEC, and studentship costs, funded at 100 per cent fEC. The business lead must commit substantial cash contributions to the programme, matching the funding provided by EPSRC.
Scientific scope
The partnerships must be able to generate economic and social prosperity for the UK in the field of Physical Sciences and Engineering. They are expected to drive forward shared research challenges, demonstrate impact beyond the partners in addition to benefits to the businesses involved and contribute positively to the overall strategic partnership framework that exists between the parties.
PI eligibility
Programmes must have a business PI and an academic PI. The business lead must be a UK business or have UK-based research activity, and must be in the private sector and driven by profit, or from an organisation with a commercial arm that generates independent revenue. Academic leads must be organisations eligible to receive research council funding, including HEIs, research council institutes and independent research organisations.
