Call summary
The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 invites applications for its research fellowships in science or engineering. These enable early-career scientists or engineers to conduct an innovative research project of their own instigation in any of the physical or biological sciences, in mathematics, in applied science or in any branch of engineering.
A Fellowship will normally be held at a UK Institution approved by the Commissioners; the research should be carried out at a different Institution from the one where the candidate’s PhD research was undertaken. Fellowships are held from 1 October in the year of award (or such date in 2024 as agreed with the fellow), for a period of typically 3 years, and offers cannot be deferred to a later year. Around eight awards are made each year.
