L’Oréal UK & Ireland, GB and other funders: L’Oréal-UNESCO UK and Ireland for women in science rising talent awards

L’Oréal UK and Ireland, the UK National Commission for UNESCO and the Irish National Commission for UNESCO, with the support of the Royal Society, invite applications for their women in science rising talent awards. Five awards, worth £15,000 each over one year, are available. Funding may be spent on innovative ways to enable women to pursue and continue their research careers, such as buying equipment, paying for childcare or funding travel costs to an overseas conference. These support postdoctoral research by women at universities or research institutes in the UK or Republic of Ireland in any area of the life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and computing, engineering or sustainable development. The aim is to promote, enhance and encourage the contribution of women pursuing their research careers.

Female postdoctoral scientists who have already been awarded their research doctorate in the eligible fields may apply. Applicants must have no more than 10 years' active full-time equivalent postdoctoral experience and must not currently hold, or have ever held a permanent academic post in the past, or have received, before the start date of the award, the promise of a permanent academic post. Applications are invited from citizens of any country, however applicants must already have a confirmed contract covering the period of the fellowship at a university or research institute within the UK or Republic of Ireland and must already be residing within the UK or Republic of Ireland at the time of application. Psychology, science education and social sciences candidates are not eligible.
