Call summary

The National Science Foundation, in collaboration with 14 other funders based in the US, China, the UK and Israel, invites proposals for its call on the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases. This supports collaborative research on the ecological, evolutionary, organismal, and social drivers that influence the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. Proposals should focus on understanding the determinants and interactions of transmission of diseases to humans, non-human animals, plants or other species. Research may be on zoonotic, environmentally-borne, vector-borne, enteric, or respiratory pathogens of either terrestrial or aquatic systems and organisms, including diseases of animals and plants, at any scale from specific pathogens to inclusive environmental systems. The total budget for fiscal year 2023 is worth USD 36.5 million to fund approximately 12 awards. Awards are worth up to USD 3 million each for a maximum duration of five years.
