Call summary
The National Science Foundation, under its Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences and the Division of Astronomical Sciences, invites submissions for its advanced technologies and instrumentation for the astronomical sciences funding opportunity. This supports individual investigators and collaborative research in the development of new technologies and instrumentation for use in ground-based astronomy and astrophysics. The development of innovative, potentially transformative, technologies and instruments are sought, even at high technical risk. Supported categories include but are not limited to advanced technology development, concept feasibility studies, and specialised instrumentation to enable new observations that are difficult or impossible to obtain with existing means. Proposals may include hardware or software development or analysis to enable new types of astronomical observations. Ten grants are available, with an anticipated funding amount of up to USD 8 million.
Scientific scope
Telescopes & Space Instrumentation; Universe Sciences; High Energy Astrophysics & Cosmic Rays
