Call summary
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and Brazil's São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) invite applications for their pump-priming awards. These provide short-term pump-priming for new collaborations between BBSRC-funded research groups in the UK and Brazilian research groups in São Paulo state. Funding is worth up to £35,000 for two years, covering travel, subsistence and other collaborative activities such as workshops or exchanges for UK candidates. Funds may also be used to support a modest level of direct research costs, including consumables and access to specialist equipment. FAPESP will provide similar funding for the Brazilian scientists.

PI eligibility
Applications must be made by a principal investigator who is both eligible for, and currently in receipt of, BBSRC funding, or who is a project leader at one of BBSRC institutes. Joint applications by consortia of UK partners, which could include industrial and non-BBSRC funded partners, are encouraged; however, a BBSRC-funded applicant must be the lead and submit the proposal.
