Call summary
Innovate UK invites applications for its Engineering Biology Collaborative Research and Development call. This supports projects to develop Engineering Biology (EngBio) technologies, processes, products and services, or apply Engineering Biology to societal challenges. The aim is to deliver business led research and development that will lead to new Engineering Biology products, processes or services, an de-risk the adoption of new Engineering Biology technologies that offer high market potential. All projects must:
have a grant funding request between £70,000 and £350,000
start on 1 February 2024
end by 31 January 2025
last between 6 and 12 months
carry out all of its project work in the UK
intend to exploit the results from or in the UK.
Scientific scope
Proposals must align with one or more of the following NEBP themes or focus on cross cutting technology or service development:
food systems;
biomedicine;
clean growth;
environmental solutions.
PI eligibility
Eligibility Note To lead a project or work alone your organisation must be a UK registered business of any size. Academic institutions cannot lead or work alone. Other entities may collaborate with the lead, including other businesses, academic institutions, charities, not for profits, public sector organisations, and research and technology organisations.
