Call summary

The Science and Technology Facilities Council and the European Space Agency invite applications for business support from the ESA business incubation centre - United Kingdom. This provides start-ups with technical expertise and facilities, business support, networking, office space and funding needed to overcome innovation challenges and accelerate business growth. The project idea must have a strong and innovative space connection, including downstream application of space technology in other fields, technology transfer from space, exploiting new technology in the space domain, or supplying the space sector. Successful applicants are offered fully equipped office space, over £40,000 of cash incentive for design, prototyping, intellectual property protection and market studies, as well as access to STFC's test facilities, laboratories, workshops and technical expertise, including up to 40 hours of expert support and 40 hours per year of access to lab facilities. Additionally, companies receive access to business development support and a range of funding, investment and networking and collaboration opportunities.

PI eligibility

In general, any space-related start-ups registered in the United Kingdom less than five years old, or individuals with the intention to set up a space-related start-up, are welcome to apply for incubation. Where the application is made by individuals, each person must have a permanent work permit in the United Kingdom. In addition, the process of setting up a company must have been started, since an incubation contract can only be signed with a legal entity.
