Call summary

Innovate UK and the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, through the Net Zero Hydrogen Fund, invites applications for their strand 2 capital expenditure call. This supports the commercial deployment of new low carbon hydrogen production projects during the 2020s. Projects must address low carbon hydrogen production opportunities and must focus on construction of new low carbon hydrogen production facilities. For the strand two applications are invited from projects that do not require a hydrogen specific business model. These should be low carbon hydrogen projects that can deploy on the basis of capital expenditure support and are able to start construction rapidly. The total budget is worth up to £45 million. Projects must have a total grant request of between £200,000 and £20 million and may last between six and 17 months.

PI eligibility

The lead organisations may be of any size and may work alone or with other UK registered businesses, academic institutions, charities, not for profits, public sector organisations and research and technology organisations. Subcontractors are allowed and can be from anywhere in the UK or overseas. They must carry out all of its project work in the UK and intend to exploit the results from or in the UK. Academic institutions, research and technology organisations, public sector organisations or charities cannot lead or work alone.
