Innovate UK, GB: Automotive transformation fund

Innovate UK invites expressions of interest for its automotive transformation fund. This supports the industrialisation of a electrified automotive supply at scale in the UK. Each application may focus on capital and associated R&D activity or capital investment only. The total budget is worth up to £1 billion. Project’s must request a minimum of £1 million. The project’s total costs and project duration must be appropriate and in proportion to the planned objectives and prioritisation of the fund.

Proposals must prioritise the scale up in areas mentioned in the automotive transformation strategy, which includes batteries including cells, electric motors and drives, power electronics, fuel cells, upstream supply chain for batteries including cells, electric motors and drives, power electronics or fuel cells. This is the first stage in a two stage process.

Lead organisations must be UK registered businesses of any size and they may collaborate with other UK registered businesses, academic institutions, charities, not-for-profits, public sector organisations or research and technology organisations. They must carry out the project work in the UK and exploit the results from or in the UK. Non-UK businesses may apply to this competition in reference to activities they are considering undertaking in the UK. The business must be registered in the UK before any funding can be awarded.
