Call summary

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, through QuantIC’s partnership fund, invites applications for its industrial partnership fund’s new venture call. This supports the development of new business propositions that can fast-track the commercialisation and exploitation of novel products and systems in the field of quantum imaging. The aim is to fund market feasibility assessments and support business plan development to bring spinouts to fruition. The total budget is £500,000. The funding covers costs up to a maximum of £100,000 at 80 per cent of the full economic costs. Patent costs are not covered under the scheme. Funding can be utilised to supplement other pre-incorporation funds, provided that the overall purpose is to facilitate or lead the development of a new venture.

PI eligibility

Applications can be from an individual or a team of founders. The principal investigator must be resident in the UK and an academic employee at the lecturer or equivalent level at an eligible organisation, which may be a higher education institution, a research institute funded by a research council or an independent research organisation. University spin-out development teams are encouraged to apply. The funding is targeted at pre-incorporation activities and must be administered by an organisation eligible to receive EPSRC funding. Under no circumstances will funding be awarded to an incorporated company or in support of a company that has been incorporated.
