Call summary
The Academy of Medical Sciences, supported by Wellcome, the British Heart Foundation, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Diabetes UK, invites applications for its springboard awards. These enable biomedical scientists to develop their independent research careers. Applicants may come from any biomedical research area, including non-clinical, as well as from molecular, cellular and structural biology, and anatomical, physiological, psychological, epidemiological and public health research areas. Awards are worth up to £100,000 each over two years. Funding covers research costs and professional development, including support staff, consumables, equipment, access to technical support, training and travel, but not personal salary costs. PI eligibility
Applicants must hold an established academic position at an eligible HEI and be within five years of being appointed their first independent post. Applicants must be nominated by their institution. Institutes may submit four nominations for each round. The awards are targeted at those who are in the early stages of their first independent post and have limited funding.
