EPSRC: EPSRC/Science Foundation Ireland research and technology joint funding of research programme – standard research grants

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, in partnership with Science Foundation Ireland, invites applications for its research and technology programme – standard research grants. These support research projects that cut across national boundaries involving collaborative teams led by researchers from the UK and Ireland. The partnership supports joint research and technology development in the areas of chemistry, engineering, information and communications technologies, materials, mathematical sciences and physics. Grants are worth up to €500,000 each for projects with a duration of one to five years.

Physical Sciences and Engineering

Single joint proposals from applicants in both countries should be submitted to EPSRC. For EPSRC applicants, the PI must be resident in the UK and be an academic employee at the lecturer or equivalent level at an eligible organisation, which may be an HEI, a research institute funded by a research council or an independent research organisation. SFI applicants must be based at an institution eligible for SFI support. Additionally, the SFI co-investigator must be a member of the academic staff of an eligible research body or a contract researcher with a contract that covers the period of the grant and who is recognised by the eligible research body as an independent investigator and will have an independent office and research space for the duration of the grant.
