Call summary

The National Institute for Health Research, under the global health research programme, invites intentions to submit for its research and innovation for global health transformation call. This supports targeted research to prevent, treat and manage multiple long-term conditions in low and middle income countries. Awards typically range from £1 million to £5 million over three to five years. Successful stage 1 applicants may apply for up to £10,000 to support partnership development and the preparation of full proposals for stage 2.

Scientific scope

This funding round is open to applications focused on targeted research to prevent, treat, and manage multiple long-term conditions in low and middle income countries (LMICs). NIHR is seeking programmes of applied health research that focus on the development and evaluation of interventions and strategies for improved management of multiple long-term conditions.

PI eligibility

Applications must be led by a PI employed by an LMIC HEI or research institute or they must have two joint lead applicants, one at an LMIC institution and one at a UK institution. Lead applicants from ODA-eligible LMICs should be from an HEI, research institution or non-profit organisation. Applications must be ODA compliant.
