The fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality, but the fellowship must be submitted through and held at an eligible UK research organisation. Applicants that have not yet completed their PhD are expected to have submitted their thesis before the fellowship interview takes place. They may have no more than eight years of full-time postdoctoral research experience. Applications must be at least 50 per cent within the NERC remit. Co-investigators are not permitted, but there is no limit on the number of project partners or where they are based. Up to two years can be spent at a collaborative institution in the UK or overseas.
