Call summary
The National Science Foundation, under its Directorate for Engineering, Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences and the Directorate for Geosciences, invites proposals for its ECosystem for leading innovation in plasma science and engineering (ECLIPSE) – Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences, Division of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental and Transport Systems, Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems, Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation and Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems applications funding opportunity. This supports transdisciplinary research in plasma science, including plasma physics, plasma chemistry, materials science, and space science, to advance knowledge for discovery and technological innovation.
Scientific scope
It should address societal or technological needs within the scope of science and engineering supported by the National Science Foundation. Examples of topical areas within scope include:
•plasma surface interactions;
•atmospheric pressure plasmas and microplasmas;
•dusty plasmas;
•novel sensor development for highly non-equilibrium plasmas;
•novel computational modelling for multi-component and/or multi-phase plasma systems;
•novel studies of plasmons in nano-photonics and nano-optics.
PI eligibility
Foreign organisations may apply provided they do so in consortium with US organisations. The proposer must explain why local support is not feasible and why the foreign organisation can carry out the activity more effectively.
