Call summary
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the US National Science Foundation Directorate of Biological Sciences (NSF/BIO), through the lead agency scheme, invites applications for its work with US researchers call. This supports collaborative projects in the areas of biological informatics, systems understanding of host-microbe interaction, synthetic cells and cellular systems, and synthetic microbial communities. The proposals must address the priorities of both BBSRC and NSF/BIO and provide a clear rationale for the need for a US and UK collaboration. Projects should aim to reduce the barriers that researchers and funding agencies encounter when working internationally. The full economic cost of the project, including the UK and US components, can be up to £2 million. BBSRC will fund 80 per cent of the full economic cost for the UK component. Project may last between three to four years, and must not exceed five years.
Scientific scope
Quantum Mechanics; Bioinformatics; Immunopathology; Genetic Engineering; Theoretical Chemistry; Artificial Life; Microbiology
PI eligibility
Researchers that are UK residents and based at a UK institution eligible to receive funding from UKRI may apply.
