Call summary

The Natural Environment Research Council invites applications for its environmental response to hydrogren emissions call. This supports projects that explore the environmental response to hydrogen emissions. The total budget is £3,850,000 for up to six awards. The maximum budget to UKRI is £900,000 for topic A projects, £1,350,000 for topic B projects and £400,000 for topic C projects. NERC will fund 80% of the full economic cost.

Scientific scope

The following topics will be supported: •topic A – increasing certainty of atmospheric composition, radiative forcing, and global warming potential of hydrogen emissions; •topic B – addressing the role of the terrestrial hydrogen sink; •topic C – impacts of hydrogen use scenarios on the atmosphere and impacts on air quality.

PI eligibility

UK-based researchers based at UK HEIs, research council institutes, UKRI-approved independent research organisations or public sector research establishments may apply. Applicants may be involved in no more than three proposals submitted to this funding opportunity and only one of these may be as the lead principal investigator. No studentships will be allowed under this opportunity.
