Call summary
The Natural Environment Research Council invites applications for its run advanced training for early-career environmental scientists call. This supports the development of training initiatives for early-career environmental scientists. Training needs to be related to NERC’s remit but may also include training at the interface between these areas and other disciplines, where many major research challenges exist. The total budget of the call is £750,000. Projects may cost up to £100,000 per year although most grants will be worth between £20,000 and £50,000 per year, with NERC funding 80 per cent of the full economic cost. Initiatives will be funded for one year.

PI eligibility
Principal investigators must be resident in the UK and be employed by a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI-funding. Employment should be at lecturer, or equivalent, level or above. NERC-funded doctoral training partnerships and centres for doctoral training are eligible to apply for funding to support training initiatives aligned with, but in addition to, their existing student training programmes.
