Call summary

Wellcome invites applications for its digital technology development awards in climate-sensitive infectious disease modelling. These support the development of digital tools that will improve climate-sensitive infectious disease modelling. Awards are worth up to £500,000 for up to five years, to cover research expenses including salaries.

Scientific scope

The aim is to produce a piece of open-source digital technology that will increase the impact of research in addressing this threat to health. Proposals should focus on escalating threats such as emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, drug-resistant infections and future epidemics, as well as on the urgency of the challenge posed by climate change.

PI eligibility

Applicants may be based anywhere in the world apart from mainland China, and may apply as an individual or as a team. Applicants must have a background or experience of working in any field of science and health relevant to infectious diseases or the impacts of climate change on human health, as well as an idea for a novel piece of digital technology to improve modelling at the intersection of these two fields. They may be at any career stage. Eligible host organisations include higher education institutions, research institutes,, non-academic healthcare organisations and non-profit organisations.
