Call summary

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Natural Environment Research Council invite applications for their molecules to landscapes – building interdisciplinary capabilities call. This supports collaborations that build capability across the BBSRC and NERC. The total budget is £1 million. Grants are worth up to £200,000 for up to 12 months. Funding covers up to 80 per cent of the full economic costs.

Scientific scope

The aim is to achieve this through interdisciplinary projects that bring together a range of disciplines including: •environmental engineering; •ecology; •agri-systems; •molecular biology; •data science. Projects should contribute to the development of an integrated system wide approach and the identification of innovative solutions that will inform and develop agroecological practices.

PI eligibility

Applicants from eligible UK-based organisations, including higher education institutions, eligible independent research organisations, public sector research establishments and UKRI funded labs and facilities may apply. New collaborations and partnerships across disciplines and sectors are encouraged. The involvement of private sector partners and international research groups is welcome. Proposals must include at least two co-principal investigators from different and relevant disciplines.
